What Happened?
The United States has stopped a special student exchange program called Global UGRAD for Pakistani students. This program ran for 15 years and helped many young people study in the US for one semester.
What Was the Global UGRAD Program?
- Started in 2010
- Run by the US Department of State
- Gave Pakistani college students a chance to go to the US
- Helped students learn, grow, and understand new cultures
More than 2,500 students from Pakistan joined this program. It helped them become better leaders and learn more about the world.
Why Did It Stop?
The program ended as part of US aid cuts. These cuts are part of past government plans to reduce foreign help unless it supports US foreign policies.
Many education, food, and cultural exchange programs were affected.
What Does This Mean for Students?
- The USEFP (United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan) said it’s sad news
- Many students who applied this year will miss out
- The program gave students life-changing chances
What Programs Are Still Open?
