Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love sustained a left leg injury with only six seconds remaining in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in São Paulo, Brazil.
As the Packers trailed by six points late in the game, Love made a final push to lead a comeback. However, he was tackled around the legs and appeared to be in discomfort following the play. He managed to leave the field on his own but had to watch helplessly as backup Malik Willis tried unsuccessfully to turn the game around for the Packers.
After an incomplete pass and a quarterback sack, the Eagles celebrated a 34-29 victory. Love remained seated on the sidelines for an extended time after the game, clearly affected by the injury.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur did not provide an update on the quarterback’s condition following the match.
Love, who recently signed a four-year, $220 million contract with the Packers, finished the game with 260 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
