Jayson Tatum Leaves Game with Leg Injury
He was trying to recover a loose ball when his right leg gave out. Tatum lay on the floor in pain, holding his leg just above the ankle.
The team has not yet released an official update.
“I’m worried about Jayson. That’s the main thing,” said veteran Al Horford.
“The game we can talk about later.”
Tatum Scored 42 Points Before Injury
Before the injury, Tatum played one of his best games of the season. The scored 42 point – making 16, of 28, shots. He has been one of the most durable players in the NBA and had never missed a playoff game until this season.
Celtics Must Now Regroup
Celtics star Jaylen Brown said he had “no words” after the game. The team now faces the tough task of playing Game 5 without Tatum, their leader and top scorer.
“This is part of the game,” he said. “they feel bad for Jayson Tatum injury, but we have to keep going. It’s tough, but we will fight.”
Knicks Offer Support
Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns, who had a similar leg injury in the past, showed support for Tatum.
“I prayed for him,” Towns said. “He’s a superstar. I hope he heals fast and comes back soon.”
What’s Next for the Celtics?
The Celtics now trail 3-1 in the series. They wanted to win in the Game 5th on Wednesday night in Boston to keep alive in the game.
“We’re all hurting right now,” Horford said. “Tatum means so much to us. Let’s hope for the best.”
