Nintendo has unveiled an exciting new product for fans of their iconic franchises—a Nintendo-themed alarm clock called the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo. Known for its creativity, Nintendo is now bringing its interactive style to a fun, new way to start your day. This Mario-inspired alarm clock is currently available to Nintendo Switch Online members in the U.S. and Canada via the My Nintendo online store. Priced at $99.99, a full retail release is set for early 2025.

What Makes Alarmo Unique?

Alarmo stands out for its interactivity and customization options. Users can enjoy:

  • 35 unique scenes inspired by classic Nintendo games.
  • Themes from games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure.
  • Fun and quirky sounds to wake you up, including sounds from the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, and more.

Features Designed to Wake You Up

The Alarmo is built to be more than just a clock. It interacts with you and helps you start your day with some Nintendo fun:

  • Motion-Activated Responses: The clock detects movement, so as you stir in bed, it activates different Nintendo characters.
  • Character Prompts: If you don’t wake up, a character like Princess Peach might gently remind you to get out of bed. If that doesn’t work, a more assertive character like Bowser could make an appearance.
  • Snooze Mode: If you still haven’t gotten up, the alarm goes into snooze mode, ready to give you another nudge later.

Sounds and Music That Make Mornings Fun

Nintendo has added its signature touch with sounds that fans will recognize:

  • Wacky Alarm Sounds: Splatoon paintball effects and Mario coin sounds bring a jolt of energy to your mornings.
  • Victory Fanfare: Once you’re up, you’ll hear upbeat tunes like Jump Up, Superstar! from Super Mario Odyssey or a Bowser theme if you’re still snoozing.

Control Options

While Alarmo offers motion-based controls, users can also manually interact with it using a large button and dial. Nintendo has ensured it’s easy to use whether you prefer hand gestures or traditional controls.

Future Updates and Connectivity

As of now, the Alarmo requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership for purchase. It’s unclear if this requirement will remain when the clock goes to full retail, but members get additional perks:

  • OTA Updates: Link your Alarmo to your Nintendo Account to receive updates with new themes, including options from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Nintendo’s Alarmo clock is more than just an alarm; it’s a Nintendo fan’s dream, offering interactive features that turn waking up into a game itself.
